The Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center is at 200 Civic Center Drive in downtown Charleston, WV. It opened in January 1959 as the Charleston Civic Center. The coliseum part opened in 1980. After an expansion and renovation from 2015 to 2018, the building took its present name in September 2018.
In 2021, the county health department and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority held large COVID-19 vaccine clinics here. One Saturday clinic on May 15, 2021 ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It was for people age 12 and older, pending approval of the Pfizer vaccine for that age group. Free parking was in the Quarrier Street garage, and drive-through vaccines were given from the Lee Street lot.
