The Division of Health Promotion (DHP) was formed in May 2007 to establish health promotion activities for the residents of Kanawha County and the City of Charleston. The DHP plans, implements and evaluates policies, strategies and initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles that is supported by evidence based knowledge of health promotion theories. KCHD serves on various boards, coalitions, advisory panels and teams to further enhance the health of our residents while coordinating program activities with professional and community groups interested in making communities healthier. The DHP works with legislators and other public officials for increased recognition of preventative and wellness issues including policy and environmental changes, which have a positive impact on the health of our community. <see more>
