On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, the county health department and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority (KCEAA) tested 26 people for COVID-19. The drive-up community testing event took place at KCEAA.
The event was the first of several drive-up testing events the two agencies planned around the county. The county health officer said the agencies were glad to get more people in the community tested. The next event was set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary in Charleston.
At that time, testing was by appointment only, and people had to have symptoms to be tested. The listed symptoms were cough, fever, shortness of breath and stomach or bowel problems. Residents could make an appointment through the health department’s COVID-19 hotline at 304-348-1088.
For later events in the series, see more COVID-19 testing events announced.
