In early February 2021, the county health department and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority (KCEAA) planned a Saturday COVID-19 vaccine clinic for people 65 and older. The clinic was on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, 200 Civic Center Drive, Charleston.
First doses were given from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Second doses were given from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The clinic was by appointment only, and walk-ins were not accepted. People had to pre-register through the state’s COVID-19 vaccine registration system at vaccinate.wv.gov, and the state contacted people chosen for open slots.
The clinic was part of a statewide week of clinics for residents 65 and older, held in all 55 counties from February 3 to 6, 2021. West Virginians from any county could book a slot at any listed clinic.
On the day, the health department, KCEAA and their partners gave 3,475 doses. See more than 3,000 vaccines given at clinic Saturday. Earlier clinics for this age group included the Thursday, January 21 clinic and the Saturday, January 23 clinic.
