KCEAA Schedules July 5-6 Hep A Clinics

On July 3, 2018, health officials scheduled more free walk-in hepatitis A vaccine clinics in Kanawha County. The county health department worked with the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority (KCEAA) to provide the vaccine, and KCEAA staff gave the shots.

Clinic schedule

  • Thursday, July 5, 2018, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Orchard Manor and Washington Manor
  • Friday, July 6, 2018, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Littlepage Terrace and South Park Village

Who could get the free vaccine

  • Food service workers
  • People who were homeless
  • Close personal or household contacts of people who were homeless or who used drugs
  • People exposed to hepatitis A
  • People recently in jail or prison
  • Anyone who gave direct services to people who were homeless or who used drugs

People had to fill out paperwork. Anyone 18 or younger had to come with a parent or guardian. People with insurance could be billed, with no copay or deductible. People with no insurance or too little insurance got the vaccine free. Waits at earlier clinics were about 10 minutes or less.

Before these clinics, on Friday, June 8, 2018, the ambulance authority gave hepatitis A shots at a free clinic at Dunbar City Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
