In June 2018, the county health department scheduled a walk-in hepatitis A vaccine clinic for people at higher risk of the disease. The clinic ran from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the health department, 108 Lee Street in Charleston.
The clinic was open to:
- people who were homeless
- close or household contacts of someone who was homeless or used drugs
- people exposed to someone with hepatitis A
- food service workers
- people recently released from jail or prison
- people who gave direct services to homeless people or people who use drugs
The clinic was part of the response to a regional hepatitis A outbreak. Earlier clinics in May and June had focused on food service workers. See the Kanawha and Putnam hepatitis A clinics.
