Lose It! is a calorie counting app for phones and the web. FitNow, Inc., a company in Boston, made the app. It came out for the iPhone in 2008. A website followed in 2010, an Android app in 2011 and an Apple Watch app in 2015.
How it works
- The app sets a daily calorie budget from a user’s weight, weight goal, exercise and food intake.
- A user logs meals and snacks. The app gives calorie estimates for foods, and a barcode scanner looks up packaged foods.
- A photo feature called Snap It estimates the calories in a meal from a picture. It came out as a test version in 2016.
- The app can link to other fitness apps and devices, such as Fitbit and Runkeeper. It also has social features, such as groups and progress sharing.
- A paid Premium tier adds food tracking for set diets, such as keto, heart-healthy and Mediterranean plans.
The app still runs at loseit.com. See more tools in the nutrition and fitness categories, such as MyFitnessPal, and the full wellness resources list.
