MyFitnessPal is a nutrition and calorie tracking app for phones and the web. A user logs meals from a large food database, and the app counts calories and nutrients against a daily goal.
The app sets a starting calorie goal from the height, weight, age and sex a user enters, then adjusts it for that person’s weight goal. A free account can search the food database and track calories, nutrients, body weight, exercise and water. A paid Premium tier adds tools such as a barcode scanner, custom macronutrient goals and a fasting tracker. The app can also share data with other fitness apps and devices.
Under Armour bought MyFitnessPal in 2015. It sold the app to the investment firm Francisco Partners in a $345 million deal it announced in late October 2020 and completed on December 18, 2020. The app still runs under its own name at myfitnesspal.com.
