Living With Type 2 Diabetes is a free program from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). It is for people who have just learned they have type 2 diabetes. The ADA offered the program by 2011.
What the program includes
The program lasts 12 months and is free. It comes in English and Spanish. The current version includes:
- Six e-booklets on topics such as nutrition, stress and emotions, physical activity, prevention of complications and how to stay on track.
- A monthly Healthy Living e-newsletter with seasonal tips and resources.
- Information about local diabetes community events.
- For people who give a phone number, an invitation to “Ask the Experts,” a monthly question-and-answer series online or by phone.
When the program started in 2011, people could get the materials by mail or by email, and could join an online support community.
