On Saturday, November 7, 2020, local health groups held flu vaccine clinics at eight high schools in Kanawha County, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clinics were set up as drive-thru events.
The county health department ran the clinics with Kanawha County Schools, the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, the City of Charleston, the Kanawha County Commission, CAMC and Aetna Better Health. Students, staff and their families were encouraged to come. Students had to bring a parent or guardian. High-dose flu vaccine was not offered.
The school clinics were part of a wider push that fall to get people vaccinated against flu during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier that season, the health department also gave flu shots at its COVID-19 testing events. For the results of the day, see Flu vaccines given at Saturday school clinics.
