Pediatricians from Kanawha County on Tuesday urged the parents of adolescents to get them vaccinated against COVID-19.
Twenty-one pediatricians from Kanawha County have signed on to a letter from Dr. Arthur Rubin, president of the Kanawha-Charleston Board of Health.
“We… highly recommend and encourage you to see that all children and adolescents ages 12 and over in our area receive the COVID-19 vaccine,” the pediatricians wrote. “Preventing the spread of the virus is how we can continue to return to normal life – school, sports, concerts and restaurants. “
The FDA on Monday authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use in those aged 12 and older. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, or ACIP, of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is expected to meet Wednesday to consider recommending the vaccine for use in 12-15 year-olds.
