Staff from the health department, Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority and the Charleston Fire Department will be on hand to provide COVID-19 vaccines during the upcoming WVSSAC Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball state tournaments at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
Anyone over age 16 may receive a vaccine before or during the games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 27 through 29 and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 4 through 6 at the Coliseum.
“Everyone who can receive the vaccine should do so,” said Dr. Sherri Young, health officer and executive director of the health department. “We understand that parents and teenagers are busy, so this is one way we hope to make the process more convenient for them.”
