The Schoenbaum Family Enrichment Center is at 1701 Fifth Avenue on the East End of Charleston, WV. The Schoenbaum family, who built the Shoney’s restaurant business in Charleston, helped fund the center. Partner agencies in the building offer services such as child care, early intervention, health and mental health care, dental care, adult education and job training.
In 2020, the county health department and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority held drive-up COVID-19 testing here. On Wednesday, July 1, 2020, 568 people were tested at the center. The health officer called it the department’s 24th testing event and its largest turnout to that date.
