In 2020, the county health department held free COVID-19 testing at More Excellent Way Life Center Church, 504 Virginia Street West, on Charleston’s West Side.
- Saturday, July 18, 2020, from noon to 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 22, 2020, as the next stop after a large drive-thru event at Nitro High School.
Testing was free. People were asked to bring a form of ID, and anyone under 18 had to come with an adult. In July, appointments could be made through the health department’s COVID-19 hotline, 304-348-1088.
The West Side was a focus for testing from the early weeks of the pandemic, when health officials brought drive-thru testing to the area. See COVID-19 testing.
