A free Narcan training was held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, the first Wednesday of the month.
Naloxone, sold under the brand name Narcan, can reverse an opioid overdose. Free trainings showed people how to spot an overdose and how to give the medicine.
The trainings ran on the first and third Wednesday of each month. In 2021 the sessions were held at 12:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 301 Tennessee Avenue, Charleston, and were taught by a faculty member from the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy.
