HIV Testing at West Side Vacant Lot (Repeat Event)

Free HIV testing was held at a vacant lot on Charleston’s West Side, one of the most frequent stops in the 2021 outreach series run by the county health department and community partners.

The testing team came back to the West Side many times in June and July 2021. Some events ran from noon to 4 p.m. and others from noon to 5 p.m.

In 2021 the county health department and community partners took free HIV testing to sites across Kanawha County. Health officials reported 11 new HIV cases in the county in the first months of 2021, eight of them linked to injection drug use, and 60 cases since 2018.

Testing was free and came with linkage to care. See the June 17, 2021 West Side event.
