In 2020, the county health department held free drive-up COVID-19 testing events at sites across Kanawha County. One of these events took place at Perrow Presbyterian Church on Big Tyler Road in Cross Lanes.
WOWK reported that more than 100 people were tested at the church. By that time, local public health staff had tested close to 3,500 people at their drive-up sites. Health officials said the testing events were important as the state started to reopen.
The next event in the series was at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a Friday and Saturday. The health department set those dates as June 12 and 13, 2020. See the Laidley Field testing event and the event locations list.
