On Thursday, November 12, 2020, free COVID-19 testing was held at the county health department, 108 Lee Street in Charleston, from noon to 4 p.m. Flu shots were offered at the same time.
The state listed the event in its daily COVID-19 update as one of the free testing sites open that day in about two dozen counties. The same Lee Street site and hours were also listed for Tuesday, November 10.
That fall the health department paired flu shots with its COVID-19 testing events. Cases in the county rose sharply in mid-November 2020. The week before Thanksgiving, four more testing and flu shot events were held under Operation Drumstick.
