Recommendations for Winter Holiday Celebrations (2020)

In December 2020 CDC published advice for winter holiday celebrations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At that time cases, hospital stays and deaths were rising, and COVID-19 vaccines were not yet widely available. CDC said the safest choice was to celebrate at home with the people you live with. Gatherings with people from other homes, and travel, raised the chance of getting or spreading COVID-19 and flu.

CDC changed this page several times in late 2020. The archived versions below are from December 11 and December 16, 2020.

This is pandemic-era advice from December 2020. CDC has retired it, and it is not current guidance.
