In May 2021, the county health department and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority held COVID-19 vaccination clinics at Bible Center Church, 100 Bible Center Drive in Charleston.
On Friday, May 7, 2021, a special needs clinic ran from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It was planned with CARES, the Autism Services Center and the church for people with autism and other developmental disorders, and their families. It was quiet, with short waits and low noise, in a comfortable room away from bright lights and crowds. People could also get the shot in their car. Walk-ins were accepted, and Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines were available. A second-dose clinic was set for May 28.
A drive-up clinic with no appointment needed followed on Friday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with Johnson & Johnson vaccine for anyone 18 and older.
