Additional Vaccine Doses Announced for Friday’s Vaccine Clinic

In early January 2021, the county health department said it expected extra doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for residents 80 and older. The doses were given at a clinic on Friday, January 8, 2021, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

Shots were by appointment only, and walk-ins were not accepted. The health department added phone lines to handle the high number of calls. People who could not walk from their car could say so when booking, and staff would give the shot at the vehicle. Free parking was available at the Coliseum garage.

All appointments for the Friday clinic were soon filled. The health department said it would announce the next clinic when more vaccine arrived. See Vaccination clinic for age 80 and older Friday and COVID-19 vaccines for those age 80 and older.
