St. Marks United Methodist Church, 900 Washington Street East in Charleston, was a repeat stop for free HIV testing in 2021. The county health department and community partners ran the testing as part of their outreach during the Kanawha County HIV outbreak among people who inject drugs.

One St. Marks event took place from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021. See HIV testing at St. Marks United Methodist Church.

In May 2021, WV MetroNews reported that the outreach events averaged about 14 HIV tests a day. A total of 124 people had been tested since April 6, 2021. The events also offered COVID-19 testing and vaccines, plus hepatitis A, hepatitis B and tetanus shots. Residents could call the health department at 304-348-8080 to set up an HIV test by appointment.
