Columbus Day is a legal holiday in West Virginia. State law sets it on the second Monday in October.
The county health department office in Charleston closed for the Columbus Day state holiday in past years. Its calendar listed the closure on October 10, 2016, and on October 14, 2019. In 2019, the office also stayed open on Columbus Day for a walk-in flu vaccine clinic.
