Drive-Up COVID-19 Testing at the Health Department

the health department, 108 Lee Street East, Charleston, WV

In June 2020 the county health department and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority began to hold drive-up COVID-19 testing at the health department office, 108 Lee Street East in Charleston. Before that, most drive-up events took place at churches, schools and parks around the county.

The office events started after several new cases in the county were linked to travel to Myrtle Beach. On Friday, June 19, 2020, a state holiday, 442 people were tested at the office. Recent travelers were urged to come, but anyone could be tested.

The next event was on Monday, June 22, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No appointment or doctor’s order was needed, and people with no symptoms could be tested. For drive-up events at other sites that month, people could call 304-348-1088 to make an appointment.

The health department held more drive-up testing at the office later in 2020. See drive-up testing event Monday at the health department, drive-up testing continues Tuesday and the health department office.
