News Release: Call Center to Open This Week for Vaccine Appointments

On Monday, March 22, 2021, the county health department, the Kanawha County Commission and the City of Charleston opened a call center to book COVID-19 vaccine appointments. The appointments were for a clinic on Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

People could call 304-357-5157 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of that week. The health department said anyone age 16 or older could make an appointment. That same Monday, the governor had opened vaccine eligibility to more people.

Wednesday, March 24, was the last day to call, and the call center took calls for first doses only. The March 27 clinic was by appointment only. People who got a first Moderna dose from the health department from February 22 to 26, or a first Pfizer dose from March 1 to 5, were called to schedule a second dose. Drive-through shots were given on the Coliseum’s Lee Street lot to people with an appointment for one.

The week before, the same number was one of two phone lines that booked older residents for the March 20 clinic. See the March 20 clinic and Call center to open to set appointments for Saturday clinic.

This information is from March 2021. The phone number is from that time and is not a current booking line.
