WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECTS IN KANAWHA COUNTY BEGIN NEXT WEEK
6/22/2012
Three water main replacement projects will begin next week in Kanawha County as part of West Virginia American Water’s investment in critical water infrastructure to continue providing high-quality, reliable water service to customers. These projects in South Charleston, St. Albans and Sissonville will replace aging pipe that dates back to the 1930s.
Starting the week of June 25, contractors will replace nearly 9,700 feet of pipe for a total company investment of $700,000, which will result in enhanced water quality, improved service reliability for customers and increased water flows for firefighting.
· In the Spring Hill area of South Charleston, 3,950 feet of new
two-inch and six-inch PVC pipe will be installed along the following
streets: Kentucky Street between Chestnut Street and Ford Street;
Tennessee Street between Chestnut Street and Ford Street; the alley
behind Kentucky Street from Walnut Street to Chestnut Street; Ford
Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to the railroad tracks; and the alley
off of Rock Lake Drive from East Avenue to West Avenue.
· On Winfield Road in St. Albans, 2,500 feet of new eight-inch PVC pipe
and a new fire hydrant will be installed from 4th Street to 1st
Street.
· On Lakewood Drive in Sissonville, 3,240 feet of new six-inch PVC pipe
will be installed beginning in the 600 block. The project will also
include the installation of two fire hydrants and the elimination of
a booster station.
Crews are scheduled to work Monday through Friday during daytime hours.
Traffic disruptions are possible during construction. Weather permitting, the company expects to complete the projects by the first of September.
During construction, customers might experience occasional temporary service interruptions to their water service. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences.
The company appreciates its customers’ patience and understanding during this project. For more information, contact West Virginia American Water’s 24-hour customer service center at 1-800-685-8660 or visit www.westvirginiaamwater.com.
