Free HIV testing was held at a vacant lot on Charleston’s West Side, one of the most frequent stops in the 2021 outreach series run by the county health department and community partners.
By summer 2021 the West Side lot was a regular weekday stop. A July 1, 2021 event there ran from noon until 5 p.m.
Testing was free and came with linkage to care. The same stops offered COVID-19 testing and vaccines and hepatitis A, hepatitis B and tetanus shots. People who missed an event could call the health department at 304-348-8080 to book an HIV test.
