Drive-Through Testing and Vaccination Clinic

On Wednesday, December 29, 2021, the county health department held a drive-through COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinic at its office on Lee Street East in Charleston. The clinic ran from noon to 5 p.m. It was aimed at people traveling over the holidays.

Drivers could get a COVID-19 test, a COVID-19 vaccine, a booster, a children’s COVID-19 vaccine or a flu shot. Cars lined up in three lanes: one for vaccines only, one for tests only and one for both.

By the end of the day, staff had given 351 COVID-19 tests, 202 COVID-19 vaccines and 47 flu vaccines. Partners included the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, the City of Charleston, the Kanawha County Commission, the Charleston Fire Department, the National Guard and QLabs.

The county health officer expected cases to rise after holiday travel, the return to school and work, and the arrival of the omicron variant.
