The county health department held community flu vaccine events to give free flu shots at public places, not just at its clinic.
In February 2018 the health department gave free shots in the center court of Charleston Town Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Kanawha County Commission paid for the shots, and county residents who had not yet had a flu shot could get one. The City of Charleston, the ambulance authority, Yeager Airport, Kanawha County Schools and the regional bus system were partners.
In later years, flu shots were offered at drive-through events, such as Arms Across Kanawha in October 2021. See also get vaccinated.
