On Friday, August 21, 2020, the county health department reported a COVID-19 outbreak at the Marmet Center, a nursing home in Marmet. Twenty-three residents and eight staff members had tested positive.
The Marmet Center is run by Genesis HealthCare. The company said it was working around the clock to keep residents safe. It said it had told patients, residents and families, and would keep them updated by video calls. Families could also reach residents through Zoom. The facility worked with health officials on contact tracing.
Earlier in the pandemic, in April 2020, three Marmet Center staff members had tested positive. No residents were positive at that time.
