Health Department Announces Fourth Judicial Annex Building COVID-19 Case

On Thursday, March 26, 2020, the county health department announced that a fourth employee at the Kanawha County Judicial Annex had tested positive for COVID-19. The county had 15 confirmed cases at that point, and seven of those people were in the hospital.

The employee had last been in the building on March 20. The annex closure was extended to April 6. Three of the four annex cases were people who worked on the same floor. Magistrate court moved to City Center East in Kanawha City while the building was closed.

Annex employees were asked to isolate until April 6 and to check their temperature twice a day. Anyone with a rising fever, cough or shortness of breath was told to call a health care provider. The county health officer stressed that young people were getting the disease too.
