Arms Across Kanawha was a free one-day vaccine clinic held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at eight sites across Kanawha County.
The sites were Elkview Baptist Church and Sissonville, Nitro, South Charleston, St. Albans, George Washington, Capital and Riverside high schools. A grant from the Kanawha County Commission paid for the flu shots.
Staff gave 1,393 flu shots and 213 COVID-19 vaccines that day. Health officials said the goal was to keep a bad flu season from adding to COVID-19.
