News release: KCHD to continue COVID-19 vaccines for first responders Wednesday

The health department will hold another COVID-19 vaccination clinic Wednesday for Kanawha County first responders.

The clinic will be from 10:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Any active Kanawha County law enforcement officer, State Trooper, Division of Natural Resources Law Enforcement officer, EMS worker or other first responder who has not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine is welcome to attend.

KCHD continues to offer COVID-19 vaccinations according to Phase 1 of West Virginia’s COVID-19 vaccine allocation plan, which includes emergency response, first responders and other community infrastructure. Because of limited supply, COVID-19 vaccinations are not yet available to members of the general population.

“As we continue to work through the state’s vaccination distribution plan, we look forward to the day we can finally provide vaccinations to the general public,” said Dr. Sherri Young, health officer and executive director of the health department.

First responders who wish to be vaccinated should bring a smartphone or other device where they can access an email account.
