430 people were tested for COVID-19 at a drive-up testing event at Kanawha-Charleston Health Department Saturday. In addition, 171 people got flu vaccines.
Altogether, 1,108 COVID-19 tests and 410 flu vaccines were given at four drive-up events this week.
The Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, Charleston Fire Department, Charleston Emergency Management and Kanawha County Emergency Management helped with testing events.
“Thanks to everyone who got a COVID-19 test or a flu vaccine this week,” said Dr. Sherri Young, health officer and executive director of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. “Testing is an important part of stopping the spread of COVID-19. Besides testing, we must also continue to wear our masks, avoid crowds, keep six feet away from other people and wash our hands frequently.”
Testing events are planned for:
Noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Saint John XXIII Pastoral Center, 100 Hodges Road, Charleston
Noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct.23 at Old Main Plaza, St. Albans
