This Month's Illness
Prevention Tip

Summer weather is here!

Summer is a time for fun in the sun but it's also important to play it safe!  Heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke cause over 300 deaths annually around the country and thousands of preventable hospitalizations.

Follow these simple steps to protect you and your family during the summer months:

-Stay hydrated!  Drink plenty of water while avoiding alcohol and soda.

-Enjoy the AC!  If you're out working in your yard or playing with your kids, be sure to take frequent breaks to cool off by going inside.

-Avoid exercising during the hottest times of the day.  Plan to exercise in the morning or evening when the weather is cooler.

-And of course, always wear sunscreen!
